Better late than never, the Giants are searching for an alternative to Graham Gano.

Gano will miss “a few weeks” with his hamstring injury, head coach Brian Daboll revealed Monday.

It is unclear if the Giants will put Gano on injured reserve — which would require him to miss at least four weeks — or try to keep him available in case he is a fast healer.

The Giants worked out four free-agent kickers, including Randy Bullock, who converted 5 of 6 field goals and 10 of 10 PATs last season as an injury fill-in for Gano.

But Bullock (hamstring) finished the season on injured reserve, too.

Tanner Brown, Zane Gonzalez and Riley Patterson also were part of Monday’s workout.

The other option is elevating rookie Jude McAtamney from the practice squad.

The Giants chose not to elevate McAtamney as an insurance policy for Sunday’s game after Gano (groin) appeared on Saturday’s injury report.

It proved disastrous when Gano hurt his hamstring on the first play of the game and punter Jamie Gillan was not trusted to kick field goals or the final two PATs after his first PAT was unsuccessful, leaving key points off the board in a 21-18 loss to the Commanders.

Daboll opted to see the hamstring injury as bad luck.

But Dr. David Chao of Sports Injury Central — who spent 17 years as the head physician for the Chargers — told The Post that injuries “beget” other injuries and playing a kicker with a groin injury is a rare risk to take.

Gano appeared to be laboring through his pregame warmups, even breaking from his routine to get his groin wrapped.

It is possible, experts say, that compensating while running with a right groin injury to chase down returner Austin Ekeler led to his right hamstring injury.

“I was flying,” Gano quipped after the game. “I’ve never had a hamstring injury so I can’t vouch for that [overcompensating]. It’s frustrating, but my mindset is to do everything I can to get back. I feel like I’ve been hitting the ball really well.”

CB Cor’Dale Flott was injured at the end of allowing a 34-yard completion late on the Commanders’ game-winning drive but his availability moving forward is “not a concern,” Daboll said.

WR Jalin Hyatt played 12 snaps and wasn’t targeted.

He doesn’t have a catch through two games.

“That’s not because of Jalin Hyatt,” Daboll said. “[Darius Slayton] is doing a nice job with his opportunities, doing the things that he needs to do. And then we sprinkle in Hyatt in particular plays.”
