The Jaguars’ kicking situation was so inept that it comprised a safety hazard.

Rookie kicker Andrew Mevis wildly missed a number of field goals, including one that nailed 75-year-old radio personality and former Cowboys coach Dave Campo in the head/shoulder area, and another that just missed Jaguars team reporter Ashlyn Sullivan.

“None of them was even standing close to the goal posts,” Associated Press reporter Mark Long tweeted.

As of Friday afternoon, the reporters were in less danger — Jacksonville severed ties with Mevis, waiving the undrafted free agent on the heels of his shambolic training camp performance.

In a subsequent move, the Jaguars signed Elliott Fry, who has appeared in three games despite being rostered by eight teams in his brief NFL career. Fry will compete with former Vikings kicker Ryan Santoso for the starting job.
