Observations from Friday’s Jets training session.
Good hands
WR Corey Davis made a beautiful diving catch of a Zach Wilson pass in the back of the end zone. Davis also caught a two-point conversion to end practice and give the offense a win over the defense in a competitive red-zone period.

Gotta catch that
Jets coaches are very high on WR Jeff Smith, who had an outstanding spring. Smith, however, had a ball go off his hands in the red zone on Friday and it was nearly intercepted.
Caught my eye
The Jets signed WR Rashard Davis just before training camp opened and his speed was on display Friday. He took an end around and went 70 yards for a touchdown. He was barely touched as he flew around the end of the line of scrimmage and was off.
Medical report
Rookie TE Jeremy Ruckert (foot) is close to coming off the non-football injury list, head coach Robert Saleh said. Saleh said Ruckert had a “mini-breakthrough” this week and the Jets are optimistic about his return. … LT George Fant (knee) and WR Braxton Berrios (unknown) continue to sit out team drills.
