With the Jets appearing destined to be at the top of the 2018 NFL Draft, all eyes are on the college quarterbacks for Jets fans.
We will give you our rankings of the quarterbacks each week during the college season. Here is our latest list:
1. Sam Darnold, USC
Last week: 26-of-38, 223 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 60.5 QBR in a 30-20 win over California
This week: at No. 16 Washington State, Friday, 10:30 p.m., ESPN
Darnold was not his usual self in this one, but he was missing his top receiving target and top running back for most of the game. The USC offense still looks like it is getting in sync. Darnold faced a lot of pressure from the Cal defense.
2. Josh Rosen, UCLA
Last week: 40-of-60, 480 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT, 65.7 QBR in a 58-34 loss to Stanford
This week: vs. Colorado, Saturday, 10:30 p.m., ESPN2
The Bruins were completely overmatched by Stanford. That led to Rosen throwing a staggering 60 passes. He had plenty of ups and downs, but this was a tough game to evaluate him in because his team was so overwhelmed. Rosen’s two touchdowns came in the second half, when Stanford was already comfortably ahead.
3. Josh Allen, Wyoming
Last week: 9-of-19, 92 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 63.8 QBR in a 28-21 overtime win over Hawaii
This week: vs. Texas State, Saturday, 4 p.m.
Allen had another shaky performance, but he moves up in our rankings by default. NFL scouts still believe in his arm strength. He is tough to evaluate because his team stinks. They won this one, and Allen threw his only touchdown in overtime to help secure the victory.
4. Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
Mason Rudolph gets sacked by TCU’s Ben Banogu.APLast week: 22-of-41, 398 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, 1 rushing TD, 63.5 QBR in a 44-31 loss to TCU
This week: at Texas Tech, Saturday, 8 p.m., FOX
Rudolph took a step back last week against TCU. He missed a lot of open receivers and lost some of the momentum he had been building.
5. Lamar Jackson
Last week: 18-of-22, 299 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, 78.7 QBR, 8 rushes, 34 yards, 1 TD in a 42-3 win over Kent State
This week: vs. Murray State, Saturday, 3:30 p.m.
Jackson set the Louisville career record with 88 total touchdowns after adding three against Kent State. He did not play in the fourth quarter. This week, he gets another cupcake with FCS foe Murray State coming to town.
