Be afraid, Raiders fans. Be very afraid.
You might be one injury away from Nathan Peterman being your starting quarterback.
Coach Jon Gruden seems smitten with the former Bills quarterback who put up ghastly numbers in Buffalo the last two years.
“This Nate Peterman is growing on me,” the Raiders coach said, according to the Las Vegas Journal Review. “He’s athletic. I know he’s got some nightmare performances in the NFL, but when you watch the film, you can see why: It’s not all his fault.”
Peterman, a 2017 fifth-round pick who played for Tennessee and Pittsburgh, is battling Mike Glennon to be Derek Carr’s backup. Peterman has been dreadful in games, completing 68 of 130 passes for 548 yards, with three touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has by far the worst passer rating (32.5) of any quarterback over the last two years.
But Gruden seems to see something in him.
