The Raiders will have to continue their offensive coordinator search.

Kliff Kingsbury, who had been expected to take the Las Vegas role, is now taking his name out of the running for the job, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday.

According to The Athletic, while a deal had not been previously agreed to, both the Raiders and Kingsbury thought it was a “formality.”

Now, according to Schefter, Kingsbury is the top candidate to take the Commanders’ offensive coordinator role.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Kingsbury recently interviewed for the Washington job.

The Commanders are a team with a new leader at the top as they officially hired former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their new head coach on Saturday.

Kingsbury, the former head coach of the Cardinals from 2019-22, was expected to get a deal done with the Raiders, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Thursday.

After not getting another head coaching gig, he spent last season as a senior offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach at USC.

Kingsbury also interviewed for offensive coordinator jobs in Philadelphia and Chicago, but those went to Kellen Moore and Shane Waldron, respectively.

Rapoport previously reported that the Raiders interviewed former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly twice.

But for now, it remains murky about where the Raiders will look to for their next offensive coordinator.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday that Las Vegas spoke with current Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and that Luke Getsy was also a strong candidate in their initial process.

As for the Commanders, they hold the No. 2 pick in the 2024 Draft and are likely slated to land one of two quarterbacks: Drake Maye or Caleb Williams.
