Jonathan Martin has been hit with five charges for the chilling Instagram post that forced a high school to close as a safety precaution last month.

Martin, a former NFL offensive lineman who opened up about being a victim of bullying while with the Dolphins, faces four counts of making criminal threats and one count of possessing a firearm, TMZ reported Monday. While searching Martin’s car after his arrest, Los Angeles police reportedly found a loaded shotgun, a knife and an ax, on top of another shotgun at his parents’ home.

Martin was brought into custody on Feb. 23 hours after a photo and accompanying message were discovered on his Instagram account, featuring a shotgun, shell casings and what appeared to be targeted threats.

“When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge,” the post read, along with the names of former high school classmates and Dolphins teammates, Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey, all of whom Martin had accused of bullying him in the past.

The threatening nature of the post prompted the Los Angeles-area high school Martin attended as a teenager, Harvard-Westlake, to close out of concern for its students.

Martin triggered an investigation into the Dolphins’ locker-room culture in 2013 after he publicly accused some of his teammates, mainly Incognito and Pouncey, of harassing him and mocking his background. Incognito was subsequently suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Martin, 28, played one season with the 49ers after the Dolphins traded him in the offseason. He attempted one more comeback with the Panthers in 2015 before announcing his retirement months later.
