Odell Beckham Jr. is no longer on a leash.
That’s what the star wide receiver announced Tuesday in an Instagram post that seems like a veiled shot at the Giants’ attempts to control him. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, stunningly traded to Cleveland in March, posted a highlight video of himself, fellow wide receiver Jarvis Landry and quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Beckham’s constant headaches for the Giants was a factor in their deciding he should not be around for the future. After five electric seasons, three Pro Bowls and a $90 million contract, dealing with Beckham and his occasional surprise interviews in which he would not explicitly support Eli Manning as his quarterback was too much for the Giants.
It will be interesting to see if being off a leash includes more dynamic touchdown celebrations, like the one Beckham did while imitating a dog urinating on a fire hydrant.
