It appears that, for now, Packers quarterback Jordan Love has avoided the worst following his injury on the final drive of Friday’s game.

Love sustained an MCL sprain that will sideline him for around three or four weeks, according to ESPN, but the injury — which followed a report earlier Saturday from NFL Network that his ACL remained intact — won’t end his season.

When Love attempted to dump the ball to running back Josh Jacobs while escaping pressure in the fourth quarter, Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter grabbed his leg and Josh Sweat shoved him to the ground — and at some point during that sequence, Love’s left leg appeared to buckle.

He was helped off the field with trainers on either side, and Malik Willis entered for the final two snaps — throwing an incompletion and taking a sack — of the game.

The Packers lost to the Eagles, 34-29, on Friday in Brazil, with Love — who signed a four-year, $220 million extension in July — throwing for 260 yards, two touchdowns and one interception before the injury.

“That’s the franchise right there,” defensive lineman Kenny Clark told reporters Friday night, according to the Associated Press. “Hopefully, he can be back next week and he can be all right.”

After the latest injury update, though, it’s clear Love will need longer than a week to recover.

So for now, and for at least the next month, the Packers’ offense likely will run through Willis.

The former third-round pick out of Liberty spent his first two seasons with the Titans, but he didn’t start any games last year after Tennessee drafted Will Levis as their franchise quarterback — and logged just three starts, and eight appearances, his rookie season while backing up Ryan Tannehill.

So last week, the Packers gave Willis a fresh start and acquired him in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and despite just joining their roster at the end of the preseason, Willis joined Love as the only two quarterbacks on the Green Bay roster.

Then, Love’s injury changed everything.

“We know what kind of guy he is, how he approaches everything,” wide receiver Christian Watson told reporters Friday, according to the AP. “Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through it. We’re going to get through it.”

Entering the season, the Packers were viewed as an NFC contender.

They’d made it to the divisional round last season, and with the way Love performed at the end of the campaign, it appeared their latest transition of power at quarterback — from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers, then from Rodgers to Love — had been to complete.

But on the third-to-last Packers snap of Friday’s game, though, that progress hit a major roadblock.
