It appears the Packers are prepared to move on from Aaron Rodgers if the right trade scenario emerges.

In an interview during a broadcast of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association girls state basketball tournament, which is being held across the street from Lambeau Field, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy was asked about a scenario in which Rodgers would still be the quarterback for Green Bay next season.

“I mean, unless, if things don’t work out the way that we would want them, yeah” Murphy said in an interview with WLUK-TV. “He’s obviously a great player …”

Murphy also confirmed the Packers had granted the Jets permission to speak with the 39-year-old quarterback and would approve a trade request, hopefully to find a situation that works for both sides.

“We’re very appreciative of what Aaron has meant to the team and the organization,” Murphy said. “We want to be respectful and also help him achieve what he wants.”

In a separate interview with WBAY-TV, Murphy said this type of situation happens in the NFL because it’s rare for one player to spend their entire career with one team.

He witnessed it early in his Packers tenure, when Green Bay traded Brett Favre, their star quarterback as Rodgers developed and waited his turn, to the Jets in 2008.

Rodgers has spent all 18 of his NFL seasons in Green Bay, winning four MVP awards and one Super Bowl title.

A trade would signal the start of Jordan Love’s era as the Packers’ starting quarterback.

They think Love, their first-round pick in 2020, is ready to step in, and Murphy said “we have a lot of confidence” in the 24-year-old.

Murphy, a former Northwestern and Colgate athletic director who has been with the Packers since 2007, said he would prefer for the situation to be resolved by the Wednesday start date of free agency.

That would be the best timeline for everyone involved, he said, with the goal to “find a resolution that works for Aaron and works for us.”

Murphy added that discussions have been “very professional.”

“It’s about finding what [Rodgers] wants and what we want,” Murphy said.

The dominoes have started to fall for Rodgers to potentially end up with the Jets, who have public about their desire to acquire a veteran quarterback.

Derek Carr, one of their options, already signed with the Saints.

A group of Jets coaches and front office members, including owner Woody Johnson, general manager Joe Douglas, head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, flew to California on Johnson’s private plane to meet with Rodgers earlier this week, The Post’s Brian Costello confirmed.

ESPN reported Thursday morning that the Jets are optimistic they are “on the brink” of securing Rodgers.

If the Jets were granted permission to speak with Rodgers, it likely means there has been some framework for a trade agreed upon ahead of time, according to Costello.

The comments from Murphy confirmed at least the first part of that: The Jets have emerged as the front-runners if Rodgers and the Packers part ways.

Murphy started both local news interviews by reminding the reporters that he couldn’t delve into details or specifics.

Then, he proceeded to provide the most detailed update so far — at least from an on-the-record team official — in the entire Rodgers sweepstakes.
