Pat Shurmur explained what the Giants were getting in their new head coach in his introductory press conference on Friday.

One of Shurmur’s first tasks is fixing a locker room that was filled with tension and drama last season as the team went from the playoffs to a 3-13 disaster.

“We are going to establish the right way to do things, what we want as the New York Giants football team,” Shurmur said. “We are going to inspire the players to see things our way. There is a reason why the Giants slipped to 3-13 and we are going to find out what those reasons are.”

The former Vikings offensive coordinator also described his personality and confirmed that the reports of him having a serious personality were true.

“(I have) zero tolerance for people that don’t compete, don’t give effort or show a lack of respect,” Shurmur said.

Shurmur takes over for Ben McAdoo, who authored last year’s debacle and was fired before the season even ended.

“I hope it’s a new beginning for us and gets us back to a place we want to be, establishing a winning culture. It’s been a rough five years,’ co-owner John Mara told reporters after Shurmur’s press conference had concluded.
