Three days after suffering a concussion, Patrick Mahomes is making progress in hopes of starting Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

In a light practice on Wednesday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Mahomes took every snap and was feeling good as Kansas City prepared to meet the Bills with a Super Bowl 2021 berth at stake. Mahomes, who’s also dealing with a toe issue, was officially listed as a limited participant.

“He looked good, he is in the protocol, so there’s only certain things he can do, and it’s a limited basis, but [Wednesday] is a limited practice so this fits right into what he can do,” Reid told reporters. “But he took all the snaps and feels good. We just have to follow this protocol as closely as we possibly can.”

Chad Henne replaced Mahomes in Sunday’s win over the Browns and would be the starter if Mahomes can’t play.

But so far Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, seems like he’s trending in the right direction to be active.
