Fresh off the first Super Bowl win of his short NFL career, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t too concerned with the fact that his rookie contract will expire at the end of next season.
The Super Bowl 2020 MVP was asked at Monday morning’s press conference about his expectations for a new contract, which is expected to be the largest deal in NFL history.
“That’s stuff that’s handled with other people,” Mahomes, 24, said. “Obviously, I want to be in Kansas City a long time. I want to win a lot of football games.”
Negotiations between Mahomes’ agent, Leigh Steinberg, and Kansas City brass is likely to ensue this upcoming offseason. However, Mahomes said he wouldn’t let his record-breaking deal influence his approach to the offseason or his goal of returning to the Super Bowl next year.
