Michael Bennett doesn’t have to disagree with Patriots coaches anymore.
A week after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team stemming from what Bennett termed a “philosophical disagreement” with positional coach Bret Bielema — the Patriots traded the veteran defensive end to the Cowboys.
In return, New England received a seventh-round pick that could becoming a sixth-rounder in 2021. It’s the latest NFL deal ahead of the Oct. 29 trade deadline.
Bennett voiced his displeasure to Bielema regarding diminishing playing time after getting in for just 11 snaps in the Pats’ Week 6 win over the Giants.
“It’s America. You can voice your opinion about how you feel about certain situations. That’s what I did,” Bennett said after his suspension. “I got suspended. Lost money. What am I supposed to take away from that? There’s no love lost. It’s just how it is.”
Bennett will get the chance to exact some on-field revenge against his now-former team when Dallas takes on the Patriots in Foxborough on Nov. 24 — with the 33-year-old part of a pass-rush group that also includes Demarcus Lawrence, Robert Quinn, Kerry Hyder and Dorance Armstrong.
