Plaxico Burress, who would know, thinks Cris Carter’s “fall guy” lesson for NFL rookies is outrageous: When you bring a gun to the club and it goes off, you take the fall — even if it means doing hard time.

Carter’s apology circuit — after a video of his spiel at the 2014 symposium for rookies in the NFC went viral over the weekend — did not make much of an impression on Burress, one of the NFL’s most infamous convicts since shooting himself in the leg in 2008 and being jailed in New York for roughly 20 months on weapons charges.

The former wide receiver for the Steelers, Giants and Jets launched into an impressive Twitter diatribe on Monday evening.

Wow! I guess I didn't have a "fall guy". @NFL#rookiesymposium

In all seriousness, I've made some choices that have resulted in some consequences that I can never get back. BUT, not one time did I blame

— Plaxico Burress (@plaxicoburress) August 25, 2015

Someone else. I've always stood up, been accountable, and accepted full responsibility for my actions.

“I’ve NEVER tried to blame somebody for my choices, decisions and the consequences I suffered,” Burress wrote when 140 characters wouldn’t suffice. “I looked in the mirror first! #rookiesymposium”

(Giants teammate Antonio Pierce certainly got off the hook for carrying Burress’ warm Glock away from the Latin Quarter.)

Bottom line, you can't tell @nfl rookies nothing like that. We suppose to be helping them, not advising them to to have a Fall Guy. Unreal

I glad my son wasn't sitting in that @nfl rookie symposium. 💯

Maybe you didn’t catch all that? That’s OK. Plax re-tweeted himself several times for emphasis.

Thank you. Haha RT @BrodTHEchode69: @plaxicoburress@NFL power move retweeting yourself.

Burress, 38, could go back to jail under terms of a plea deal he is trying to cut on tax evasion charges in New Jersey — essentially for cutting a bad electronic check.

Looks like he won’t be blaming his accountant.
