Tom Savage briefly re-entered the game — only to then be pulled out — after a hit that left him shaking on the ground.

The Houston quarterback was obliterated by San Francisco’s Elvis Dumervil with about nine minutes left in the second quarter on Sunday, when he was driven into the end-zone ground upon releasing the ball. As he tried to get up, his hands began shaking in front of him, with one leg appearing to be suspended in the air.

Savage left the game so his health could be assessed. He was apparently ruled OK to return quickly and was under center for Houston’s next series. However, a Houston team doctor approached him after the series, and he was looked at again on the sideline after the possession.

Savage then repeatedly tried to re-enter the game again, but he was escorted to the locker room and replaced by T.J. Yates.
