So much for Odell Beckham Jr. being a No. 3 receiver.

Rams wideout Robert Woods tore his ACL at practice Friday, the same day the team brought in Beckham, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Woods apparently hurt his knee during practice, but nobody realized anything was wrong until later tests revealed a torn ACL. According to Schefter, it’s an isolated tear.

With the Rams bringing in Beckham, they’ve already done what might be the best possible thing to address this issue before it even existed. But this is still a blow.

When they signed Beckham as a free agent, it looked like the Rams would have weapons from top to bottom between him, Woods and Cooper Kupp. It’s still a strong group without Woods. But with 556 yards, 45 receptions and four touchdowns, Woods had been a reliable No. 2 all year.

Now the Rams (7-2) will need more out of Beckham and Van Jefferson — who has 433 yards and three touchdowns on 27 receptions this year. Given Beckham’s volatility, it remains to be seen whether the Rams can depend on him to the extent they may now need to.
