Though Randall Cobb’s split from the Packers looked like a clean breakup, it seems some emotional ties remain.

After spending the first eight years of his NFL career in Green Bay, the receiver landed with the Dallas Cowboys in March. Cobb, 28, has adjusted to the change in scenery and it appears the new environment has ignited a spark in the former Packers wideout.

“It’s like the ex-girlfriend that broke up with you,” Cobb said on ESPN Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. “When you see her five years later, you hope you’re in a better situation than you were before — married, with kids, and you’re able to say, ‘Yeah, I did better without you.'”

Cobb agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the Cowboys during free agency, as “there was never an offer put on the table” from the Packers.

“I think it kind of made my decision easier. If the Packers would have made an offer, I would obviously have had to weigh that decision. But I’m very excited and very happy to be down in Dallas. I think it’s a great situation and I look forward to this season,” Cobb said.

Cobb joins a Dallas receiving corps that also includes Amari Cooper and Tavon Austin, following the departure Cole Beasley.
