Jeff Garcia told the Tampa Tribune that he won’t be returning to the Bucs next season.

“My time in Tampa has come to an end,” Garcia told the paper.

This could be interesting news for the Jets, who could be in the market for a quarterback after Brett Favre retired last week. Garcia, 39 next week, said he believes that his career is not over.

“I do feel like I have football life in me,” Garcia said. “I feel I can still contribute. I’m not sure what my role will be with another team. I’m not looking at it like I need to start and be the man…Hopefully, I’ll have some opportunities out there. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be something out there for me.”

Garcia could be of particular interest to the Jets if they plan to draft a quarterback, then Garcia could hold the job for one or two years until Mark Sanchez or whoever they draft is ready to take over as the starter. Garcia does not have a rocket arm, but is a proven winner. He has made four trips to the playoffs in 10 seasons.

Garcia has had stints with the 49ers, Browns, Lions, Eagles and Bucs.
