MIAMI — Rob Gronkowski has the kind of unique giggle that announces he is in a room before he is seen.

And who makes him laugh? New Giants coach Joe Judge, apparently.

“He’s out of control in all ways,” Gronkowski said Tuesday during an “NFL on Fox” Super Bowl media panel. “He’s fun to be around, he has a lot of great jokes and they’re funny. He had me laughing many times in meetings.”

Gronkowski, who retired from the Patriots after last season, couldn’t relay a specific Judge joke when asked on the spot, but he sang the praises of the former Patriots special teams coordinator.

“He’s out of control and I love it,” Gronkowski said. “He’s a great coach for the Giants’ organization. He has so much passion for the game, and that’s what you need if you want to be a coach. You have to love the game of football to the max and that’s what he does. He knows the game of football inside and out.”

Gronkowski played just 97 career snaps on special teams, including 78 when he fractured his forearm blocking on a PAT during Judge’s first year with the organization in 2012. Judge was promoted to coordinator in 2015 and kept Gronkowski sharp in meetings just in case he was needed.

“Yeah, he was the special teams coach but let me tell you: He knew the special teams inside and out,” Gronkowski said. “He knew where every single player needed to be on every single play. It was unbelievable. And he knew it like that [snaps fingers]. He knew it in a split second, so it wasn’t like he had to think of where this player needed to be. You just knew he’s made for the game of football.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will surely become the highest-paid player in football at some point, but it may not be right after the Super Bowl.

“There will be a right time sometime in the next 12 to 15 months to extend Patrick, and when I say right time, I mean right time for both the player and the club,” Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt said Tuesday, according to ESPN. “I don’t want to say necessarily it has to be this offseason, but I will say that it’s a priority to get him done.

“I hope Patrick is here for his entire career, and that’s going to be our goal.”

Mahomes is eligible for an extension now since he completed his third regular season. He has one more year on his rookie deal, plus a team option for 2021 that will surely be picked up, so the Chiefs can wait on an extension if they choose.

There is no injury intrigue around the Chiefs. They are completely healthy.

“I don’t have any injuries to give you, I think we’re healthy and ready to go,” Kansas City coach Andy Reid said.
