The lovable kid that is Rob Gronkowski threw a dangerous tantrum.

The Patriots tight end earned a rare penalty for a late hit Sunday in Buffalo, where he took an inexcusably cheap shot at Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White.

The play came in the fourth quarter after White had just intercepted a Tom Brady pass intended for Gronkowski. White was tackled and lying prone on the ground when Gronk took a few steps to gain momentum, then speared White in the back. The 28-year-old was given a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, but was not tossed from the game.

The Bills’ Twitter account wasn’t thrilled.

After the Patriots’ 23-3 win, Gronkowski apologized.

“I’m not in the business of that. It was a lot of frustration,” he told reporters. “I just want to apologize to Tre’Davious White. I don’t really believe in those type of shots.”
