Robert Saleh let it be known last month that he wanted no part of “Hard Knocks.”
Now that the NFL Films cameras are omnipresent at training camp, the Jets’ head coach is trying to embrace being on the HBO show.
He wore a shirt inscribed with the words “I ♥ HK” to the podium for his post-practice media availability.
Saleh said being on the show is no different than doing the in-house production, “One Jets Drive.”
“We’re fine,” Saleh said. “We’ve been doing ‘One Jets Drive’ the last couple of years. Just talking with ‘Hard Knocks,’ they’ve got a great group of people that are working with us. We’ve expressed some of our concerns. They answered it. It’s going to be fine. It’s no different than ‘One Jets Drive.’ ”
The Jets have negotiated with NFL Films over what will be shown, and it sounds as if they have softened their stance from before they were forced to do the show.

“We kind of knew that they were really wanting us to be part of ‘Hard Knocks,’ ” Rodgers said. “It just brings more attention to us. I don’t think there’s anything nefarious about the way it went down. I’m excited about people getting to see what we’re all about here.”

The one thing I learned about this city is you could have an expansion team and the expectations would be to go 17-0. As far as pressure goes, the pressure is to do your best every day, find a way to get better every day and you trust the results will come. You don’t have control over results, but you do have control about how you approach every day personally and as a team.”
Saleh had a positive update on RB Breece Hall, who is starting training camp on the physically unable to perform list as he returns from a torn left ACL.
“He looks really good,” Saleh said. “Someone gave me a little whisper today that he hit 23 [mph] on his GPS. He looks really good. He looks strong. He’s in really good shape. Obviously, we’re going to do good by him and make sure we slow play it but he’s in really good shape.”
RB Dalvin Cook remains a free agent, and the Jets have shown interest.
Saleh indicated Cook’s contract demands may be preventing the Jets from adding him.
“With Dalvin, obviously you never want to say no to a great player,” Saleh said. “I’ll leave Joe [Douglas, GM] to that one. I know there’s a lot of contractual stuff that goes with it but he’s a good one.”
The Jets completed the trade of WR Denzel Mims with the Lions on Thursday.
The teams will exchange draft picks in 2025 if Mims makes the Lions roster out of training camp.
The Jets would send a seventh-rounder to Detroit in exchange for a sixth-rounder.
“I wish him luck,” Saleh said. “I appreciate Denzel, appreciate what he did. Sometimes a change of scenery is good. It’s good for everybody. He’ll have an opportunity if everything gets done to play for another team and show why everyone was so excited about him.”
The Jets signed WR Alex Erickson and S Dane Cruikshank.
