When the Seattle Seahawks re-signed veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap last week, quarterback Russell Wilson enthusiastically tweeted “Let’s Go!”
Dunlap told reporters on a video conference call on Tuesday that Wilson personally has told him he plans to remain in Seattle, too, despite speculation earlier in the offseason that the organization was considering moving its franchise quarterback.
“He told me he’s with us, and he’s here to stay and he said ‘Let’s go Hawks,’” Dunlap told reporters Tuesday. “We were communicating throughout the separation and obviously when we were able to get it done, he was excited.”
Dunlap, a two-time Pro Bowl defensive end with Cincinnati, was acquired from the Bengals in October before inking a two-year deal worth $16.6 million on March 25.
The 32-year-old Wilson publicly had aired his frustrations with the organization earlier in the offseason, especially expressing a desire to have more of a say in the franchise’s decision making.
