Russell Wilson tried his best to tamp down trade rumors earlier this week.
But they aren’t going away.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the report by Jordan Schultz that the quarterback would strongly consider waiving his no-trade clause for the Broncos, Giants, and Saints. When asked about it earlier this week, Wilson didn’t give an outright denial, saying, “I’m focused on what we’re doing here. Obviously, I love Seattle. This is a place I’ve loved every day, every moment.”
At 4-8, the Seahawks are failing to contend, which Wilson may view as a reason to leave. According to Rapoport, his camp viewed this as a make-or-break season.
Wilson all but said he wanted out last offseason when his agent publicly stated four teams he would consider. Rapoport also reports that Wilson requested to speak with teams last year but was denied.
Russell Wilson didn’t outright deny he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause. APCertainly, both Wilson and the Seahawks want to keep the focus on the season in front of them. The rumors, though, don’t seem close to dying down, even with Wilson attempting to kill them.
The Seahawks face the Texans on Sunday afternoon.
