While Baker Mayfield is trying to make sure Cleveland is no longer the laughingstock of the NFL, Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan served up a reminder Wednesday of why the Browns are the Browns.

Jordan was selected by the Saints in the first round of the 2011 draft. The next day, as he was driving from the airport with his new defensive-line coach, Jordan got a call from the Browns saying they were about to draft him in the fourth round.

“I was like, ‘I mean, I’m good, actually. I think I’ve already been selected. But if you want to send that check, I’ll take that,'” Jordan said during an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show.”

The Browns had confused him for USC tight end Jordan Cameron, whom they eventually drafted with the pick.

“Sitting there, you’re just like, ‘I’ll take two signing bonuses, but I refuse to got to Cleveland,'” Jordan said.

Cameron played four seasons with the Browns and two more with the Dolphins before retiring in 2017. Jordan, meanwhile, is still thriving with the Saints, coming off a 12-sack season, a Pro Bowl and almost leading them to the Super Bowl.
