A player from the XFL’s Seattle Dragons has tested positive for the coronavirus, the league confirmed in a statement on Saturday.

According to the statement, the player self-reported symptoms to the team’s medical staff on Tuesday and has been in quarantine since. The player got the positive result Friday after receiving the test for the virus “as early as possible.”

The player, whose name was not given, played in Seattle’s previous two games against the Houston Roughnecks on March 7 and St. Louis BattleHawks on Feb. 29, but the league said he “was asymptomatic at that time.”

The XFL, which suspended its season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, said it is alerting players, staff, vendors and partners associated with the Dragons, Roughnecks and BattleHawks about the positive test.

“The XFL is monitoring the situation closely and taking every measure necessary in accordance with recommendations set forth by the CDC,” the league said.

Other professional athletes, such as the Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, have also tested positive for the virus.
