Pat Shurmur will include at least one holdover from Ben McAdoo’s staff, as Bill McGovern will remain as the Giants linebackers coach.

Shurmur and McGovern worked together not long ago with the Eagles, so there is a previous connection. Shurmur is also adding Lou Anarumo as his defensive backs coach and Gary Emanuel as his defensive line coach, according to the Sporting News.

McGovern is from Oradell, N.J., and Anarumo is a native of Staten Island who went to Wagner College. Anarumo, 51, was most recently with the Dolphins. Shurmur is putting together a veteran staff, as Emamuel, 59, is a longtime college assistant who for the last six years worked with the Colts defensive line.

The defensive assistants will be guided by James Bettcher, Shurmur’s 39-year-old defensive coordinator, who filled that role the past three years for the Cardinals.
