Mud and slop was to the liking of bullish Bran don Jacobs (23-131), whose only blemish was one fumble. He kept the chains moving.

WIDE RECEIVERS C

Both Plaxico Burress (2-14) and Amani Toomer (1-13) said it might have been the worst field they’ve ever played on.

TIGHT ENDS B

Powerful blocking, sure-handed pass-catching from Jeremy Shockey (3-26).

OFFENSIVE LINE B+

No bad exchanges with wet ball from C Shaun O’Hara. Alert G Rich Seubert was exceptional grabbing Jacobs fumble. LT David Diehl beaten by DE Matt Roth for lone sack.

DEFENSIVE LINE B

Bad footing hurt pass rush of Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan, but Strahan made four tackles. Only sack by Fred Robbins.

LINEBACKERS B-

Some trouble stopping Jesse Chatman (16-79). Touchdown-saving play by Kawika Mitchell on nine-yard sack. Another personal foul by Antonio Pierce.

SECONDARY B

Excellent coverage by CB Sam Madison. S Gibril Wilson dropped gift INT and Aaron Ross and Michael Johnson beaten by rookie Ted Ginn Jr. on Miami TD.

SPECIAL TEAMS B+

Ahmad Bradshaw should be given more looks after his 35-yard kickoff return. R.W. McQuart ers fielded three punts in harsh weather.

KICKING GAME B-

Lawrence Tynes hit FGs from 20 and 41 but slipped on wet grass on 29-yard attempt.

COACHING B

Tom Coughlin did best he could to bite his tongue when asked about this trip (he didn’t like it). Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride got too carried away taking shots downfield.
