The Steelers just made Minkah Fitzpatrick the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
The two sides reached agreement on a four-year, $73.6 million contract extension that includes $36 million in guaranteed money, according to multiple reports.
Fitzpatrick’s yearly salary of $18.4 million eclipses that of former-Jet Jamal Adams. Adams, who the Seahawks pay $17.5 million per year, previously held the title of highest-paid safety.

A two-time First-Team All-Pro, Fitzpatrick has cemented himself as one of the top defensive players in the NFL, notching 11 interceptions and three defensive touchdowns during his time in Pittsburgh.
“We are very excited to sign Minkah to a new five-year contract,” Steelers general manager Omar Khan said. “Minkah is one of the top safeties in the NFL and we are thrilled he will be in Pittsburgh through at least the next five years.”
