The NFL Draft had 32 special moments for rookies and an incredible one for a veteran.
Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, who suffered a severe final spinal chord injury in a Week 13 game against the Bengals, walked onto the stage to announce his team’s pick at No. 28.
Shazier walked with the assistance of his fiancee, Michelle Rodriguez, to the podium to tell the crowd that the Steelers had selected safety Terrell Edmunds out of out Virginia Tech.
Shazier had shown signs of progress during an appearance at a Penguins game and on social media, but this is the first time he has been seen walking publicly.
Shazier remains on the Steelers roster and has vowed to play again.
