It doesn’t appear as if Bill Belichick will be coaching in 2024.
But his son will.
Steve Belichick has been hired as the new defensive coordinator for the University of Washington, per ESPN.
He had served under his father with the Patriots for the last 12 years, and he called defensive plays for the last five seasons, according ESPN.
Many expected Steve would just follow his father wherever the legendary coach landed this coaching cycle, but surprisingly no NFL team hired the 71-year-old.
Both Steve, a linebackers coach, and Brian Belichick, a safeties coach, reportedly received offers to stay on new coach Jerod Mayo’s staff.
Steve passed on that offer as he now will lead the defense for a Washington Huskies program that fell to Michigan in the national championship game last month.
