A leak at Allegiant Stadium, home to the Las Vegas Raiders and site of the 2024 Super Bowl, forced UNLV to briefly delay its season opener Saturday in the first half, with water falling through the $2 billion state-of-the-art football stadium’s roof.

Saturday was the second straight day of rain in Sin City, and the roof started to fail toward the end of the first half with the Rebels driving vs. Bryant, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The teams were able to complete the game, which UNLV won, 44-14.

The Rebels visit No. 2 Michigan on Saturday and return to Allegiant Stadium on Sept. 16 against Vanderbilt.

The Raiders won’t use the stadium until Sept. 24, when they host the Steelers in Week 3 for their home opener on “Sunday Night Football.”

Southern Nevada has been overwhelmed by Mother Nature over the last 48 hours, with video going viral of the Vegas Strip flooding as close to four inches of rain falls in surrounding areas.

However, what happened at Allegiant Stadium can’t compare to the Burning Man festival.

Tens of thousands of people gathered and quickly found themselves stranded in the Nevada desert after storms swept through the area.

Organizers closed vehicular access to the counterculture festival and attendees trudged through mud, many barefoot or wearing plastic bags on their feet.

The revelers were urged to shelter in place and conserve food, water and other supplies.

Authorities on Sunday were investigating a possible death at the festival, according to the Associated Press.

Circling back to football, on Sunday, Feb.11, Allegiant Stadium will make its debut as a Super Bowl host.

If the Raiders want to make the Super Bowl a home game, like the Rams did two years ago at SoFi Stadium, they’ll need newly-signed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to navigate a difficult AFC West, as well as a challenging conference schedule.
