Patrick Mahomes connected with ex-Jet Mecole Hardman for a 3-yard touchdown to give Kansas City a 25-22 win over the 49ers after San Francisco took an initial 22-19 overtime lead on a field goal.

The Chiefs have now won back-to-back Super Bowls and three in the last five seasons.

They’re the first team to win consecutive Super Bowls since Tom Brady’s Patriots did it in 2004 and ’05.

What we covered during Super Bowl 2024

Dave Portnoy hated Taylor Swift-Roger Goodell moment

By Max Weisman

Barstool Sports founder and well-known Swiftie Dave Portnoy was a little upset Sunday night when Taylor Swift shared a conversation with Portnoy’s enemy, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Portnoy took to X to voice his frustration at the Super Bowl 2024 interaction.

“I hate this,” Portnoy posted on X with a clip of the conversation.

J.J. Watt torched for new hairstyle during Super Bowl 2024

By Matt Ehalt

J.J. Watt maybe should have considered a soft launch for his new hairdo.

The former Texans standout and current CBS analyst broke out a new style that transported some of us back to the boy bands era or, perhaps more Super Bowl 2024-specific, to the time when Usher routinely topped the charts.

Watt, who usually has a short, clean-cut look, instead went for the spiked, messy hair-do that may have made you feel as if you were watching a Backstreet Boys or *NSYNC concert.

NFL rigged conspiracy theorists have everything they need after wild Super Bowl finish

By Andrew Crane

There’s always something for the NFL conspiracy theorists to discuss, and they came close to having another option after Super Bowl 2024.

Earlier in the week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted a joke from outgoing CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus that “the NFL has alerted us that, for the first time ever, we will have a double overtime game [in the Super Bowl].”

McManus also added, jokingly, that, “You pay $2.1 billion, you get double overtime,” according to The New York Times.

49ers ‘numb and angry’ after latest Super Bowl heartbreak

By Mark Cannizzaro

There were words, but not many of them.

“I’m still kind of numb and angry,” Christian McCaffrey said as he described a feeling he did not want to share. “Still going through a lot of emotions.”

None of those emotions were anything McCaffrey wanted to believe were inevitable after participating in his first Super Bowl.

The 49ers made it to Super Bowl 2024 and were favored to beat the Chiefs.

They took a 10-0 lead in the second quarter and missed numerous chances to pull further ahead.

The truth may come out about Travis Kelce-Andy Reid Super Bowl blowup

By Andrew Crane

Travis Kelce knows there’s a way where the true exchange between the star tight end and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid from Super Bowl 2024 surfaces — even if they keep cracking jokes about the dustup and pretend as if it was no big deal.

But Kelce will let any possible clips from his microphone dictate whether or not that scenario materializes.

“You guys saw that?” Kelce said, according to the Associated Press. “I’m going to keep it between us unless my mic’d up tells the world. I was just telling him how much I loved him.”

Tony Romo accused of ‘ruining’ dramatic end to Super Bowl 2024

By Justin Terranova

Tony Romo almost made it.

The CBS announcer — often criticized for being too excitable – seemed to fall victim to that temptation on Sunday during the final play of Super Bowl 2024.

After Patrick Mahomes hit Mecole Hardman with the game-winning overtime touchdown for the Chiefs, CBS’ play-by-play man Jim Nantz perfectly punctuated the Las Vegas drama with a “Jackpot, Kansas City.”

Tony Romo looks on from the CBS booth during the third quarter during Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Traditionally, this is when an announce team will let the moment breathe and allow fans to take in the atmosphere of a historic moment with the Chiefs winning 25-22 in overtime to claim back-to-back championships.

Romo went in a different direction.
