Blake Bortles was the one doing the intercepting during a house party this week at Jacksonville Beach.

A Jacksonville high school student, 18-year-old Joseph Horton, was arrested Wednesday night after he was caught allegedly attempting to steal Bortles’ car from the driveway before entering the house uninvited, Jacksonville News 4 reported Thursday. Bortles, the Jaguars’ quarterback, was reportedly attending a party at center Brandon Linder’s home when they noticed the stranger.

Horton was seen on surveillance footage first getting into Bortles’ unlocked Ford F-150, looking through the various compartments and pulling out Bortles’ wallet, which was later discovered on the ground, witnesses told the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

Horton then tried to drive away in Bortles’ car but failed to evade the other cars parked in the driveway, then parked it and got out, witnesses said. Making his way inside Linder’s house, Horton found his way upstairs, where guests confronted the unknown visitor and called police to the scene, the report stated.

Bortles and two friends were reportedly keeping a close eye on Horton when police arrived.

Horton was taken into custody and charged with burglary, trespassing and grand theft, according to police. He told the officers he entered the house looking for an ex-girlfriend, whom party guests could not identify.

Based on the address Horton gave police and neighbors’ confirmation to the TV station, he lives with his parents in a multi-million dollar home a few blocks away from Linder’s residence.

Bortles, 26, is entering his fifth season with the Jaguars after an up-and-down 2017 season, after which he signed a three-year, $54 million contract extension.
