The Buccaneers have gone through voluntary OTAs without their latest acquisition, Jason Pierre-Paul.

Pierre-Paul, who will reportedly be at mandatory minicamp this week, chose to train on his own instead of attending team activities. The former Giant is training four hours every day as part of his offseason program, according to ESPN.

“We’d love to have everybody here,” Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter told the website. “That’s a perfect world and we don’t live in a perfect world, unfortunately.”

Tampa Bay gave the Giants a third-round pick and swapped fourth-rounders to acquire Pierre-Paul, whose $12.5 million cap hit is the third highest on the team. While with the Giants, Pierre-Paul’s OTA attendance was spotty, in part due to his wanting a new contract and rehabbing injuries in various years.

“You’ve gotta think about it — respect isn’t given, it’s earned, and his resume speaks for itself,” fellow Bucs defensive end Vinny Curry said, per ESPN. “So you know a guy that’s been in the league at the top of the mountain for 95 percent of his career — 5 percent due to injury — so you already know what he’s bringing, how he’s coming.”
