The Steelers’ good vibes after a crucial win over the Ravens ended with a self-inflicted wound.
The team announced on Thursday that star pass rusher T.J. Watt is in the hospital with a lung issue.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the injury occurred during treatment at the team facility on Wednesday and that Watt has been hospitalized since.
“T.J. Watt is currently in a local hospital for further medical evaluation of his lung after experiencing discomfort at the practice facility on Wednesday,” the team said in a statement. “He will not be at practice on Thursday, and his status for Monday night’s game vs. Miami is in question.”
TJ Watt is currently in the hospital with a lung issue. Getty ImagesHead coach Mike Tomlin later addressed concerns over Watt.
“I’m a little bit cautious about what I say, because I am not a medical expert,” the coach said. “But to make a long story short, he was experiencing some discomfort when he was at the facility yesterday. So, we took him to the [doctors], and they’re going through some procedures. He stayed overnight in the hospital.
“He has a lung situation that’s being addressed. I think he has some testing and so forth ahead of him this afternoon, and that’s all I know at this juncture.
“He and I communicated last night, he was comfortable, and that’s all I have really at this point.”

It’s not the only injury concern for the Steelers, who saw wideout DK Metcalf stay behind in Baltimore after he experienced “stomach pains” following a 148-yard performance in the win. He has since returned to Pittsburgh and is expected to suit up on Monday.
After the “Monday Night Football” game with the Dolphins, the Steelers are at the Lions and Browns before finishing the season at home with a rematch against the Ravens.
