Three more players sign
The Jets recently signed three more free agents: CB Jonathan Zenon, CB Kenny Patton, ad LS Nick Jarvis. Zenon (6-0, 176; LSU), who played in 41 games, starting 30 at LSU, finished with 91 tackles and nine interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns. On the road to the 2007 National Championship, he had an 18-yard interception return in the fourth quarter of the SEC Championship game vs. Tennessee.
Patton, (5-11, 193; Hawaiâi) was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Oakland Raiders on May 4, 2007 before being released May 15, 2007. At Hawaiâi, Patton was a four-year starter at cornerback, totaling 139 tackles and three interceptions in 42 games.
Jarvis (6-3, 271; Wake Forest) filled the long-snapper role for four seasons at Wake Forest and played in the Hula Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game. A high school quarterback and tight end, Jarvis was a two-time all-conference performer at North Davidson High School where he threw for 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior.
The Jets, who are neither strong nor deep at CB, are trying to find not only a set starter opposite Darrelle Revis, but some depth as well. After Revis, the Jets have David Barrett, the early leader in the clubhouse to start, Hank Poteat, Justin Miller, rookie Dwight Lowery, Andre Woolfolk and Drew Coleman.
