The Jaguars released Tim Tebow on Tuesday as they trimmed their roster.
It puts a quick end to the failed experiment where Tebow was trying to convert from a quarterback to tight end under Urban Meyer, who also coached him at the University of Florida.

“Thank you to the Jaguars organization and everyone who has supported me in this journey.”

Tebow won two national titles and a Heisman Trophy under Meyer with the Gators, but his quarterback abilities did not translate to the NFL after getting drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
“I would guess it is,” Meyer said when asked if it was the end of the road for Tebow.
“We didn’t get that deep with it. Obviously, he’s his own man … elite warrior, elite competitor, but he’s also 34 years old.”
Tebow was one of three players listed as the fourth-string tight end on the Jaguars’ first unofficial depth chart, which was posted last week.
His fate may have been sealed in Jacksonville’s first preseason game, in which he looked overmatched in viral clips of his blocking. Tebow was targeted once on an incomplete pass in 16 snaps against the Browns.
And those could be the last snaps of his NFL career.
