Tom Brady had a hilarious reaction to Leonard Fournette visiting his old team while testing the free agency waters.
Fournette told reporters on Tuesday that Brady called him in March, right after the Buccaneers quarterback announced his decision to come out of retirement — and a week before the running back had a scheduled visit with the Patriots.
Fournette recalled Brady saying, “Man, what your ass doing up there?”
Fournette ultimately recommitted to the Buccaneers on a three-year, $21 million deal, a decision he called a “no-brainer,” once Brady ended his 40-day retirement to return to Tampa. The duo won a Super Bowl together in February 2021, when the Buccaneers defeated the Chiefs.
Fournette spoke to reporters on Tuesday at the start of Tampa Bay’s mandatory minicamp, where Brady was also in attendance.
“He hasn’t lost a step. He is who he is,” Fournette said of Brady. “And me just being alongside him these three years, I wouldn’t want any other guy back there with us. He deserves everything he’s got and that’s coming to him. And I’m just proud of him.”
Last season, Fournette had 1,266 yards from scrimmage and scored 10 touchdowns in 14 games for the Buccaneers. Brady, meanwhile, threw for an NFL-best of 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns before retiring in February. A month later, however, Brady announced on social media that he would return for another NFL season to attend to “unfinished business.”

Though Fournette’s got a close bond with Brady, he’s also chummy with free-agent tight end Rob Gronkowski, with whom he checks in on twice a week as the four-time Super Bowl champ remains undecided about his NFL future.
The Buccaneers are reportedly continuing to have conversations with Gronkowski, who reunited with Brady in Tampa Bay back in 2020.
