Tom Brady took to Twitter on Friday to react to the news of friend and former Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas’ death.

“Im so sad to wake up this morning to hear about the passing of my friend Demariyus Thomas,” the Buccaneers quarterback wrote.

Brady shared a photo with Thomas at the Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony in August in Canton, Ohio.

“We were all blessed with his humility and positive spirit, and we will all miss him,” Brady wrote, calling Thomas “a source of light as always. RIP.”

Brady played with Thomas for a few months with the Patriots during the 2019 season, before Thomas finished his career with the Jets. He announced his retirement in June.

Thomas’ death was reported Thursday, after his body was found at his Roswell, Ga., home. He would have turned 34 on Christmas.

On Friday, a close relative of Thomas’ told the Associated Press that his family believes he suffered a seizure while in the shower. LaTonya Bonseigneur, Thomas’ cousin, said he had been suffering from seizure-related issues for over a year.

“He was alone and a friend couldn’t get hold of him, so he called his driver, who has a key because of these seizures, and he went into his home and found him in the shower,” Bonseigneur said. “We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him (Wednesday).”

Thomas is best known for his eight-year run with Denver, where he won a Super Bowl ring in 2016.

Other NFL stars, including Thomas’ former Broncos teammates Von Miller and Demarcus Ware, have shared their condolences in social media posts.
