An exciting summer for Derwin James took a brutal turn.
The No. 17 pick in the draft out of Florida State was allegedly robbed at gunpoint, according to TMZ Sports, on June 23 in Los Angeles after leaving a restaurant.
Two black males demanded the jewelry of James and his uncle with handguns pointed at James, the police said. The robbers made off with the chain around James’ neck and a Rolex. James was going to attempt to give chase after they left, but three of the tires on his Rolls-Royce were slashed as well.
James, a three-year star at Florida State as a defensive back, and the Chargers report to training camp this week.
