The Jets re-signed linebacker Bryan Thomas Monday, two days after releasing the longest-tenured player on the team.

Thomas said the Jets told him he would be back, but he was not sure until it actually happened. The team released Thomas to clear a roster spot Saturday so they could carry an extra cornerback on the roster for Sunday’s game with the Dolphins.

Thomas said he was upset at first, but then understood.

“They said something to me this past Saturday that I would be back,” Thomas said. “I didn’t know. That could have been said or something could have happened where they couldn’t bring me back.”

Thomas, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury since Week 1, said he is healthy and expects to play this Sunday against the 49ers.

The Jets also re-signed WR Patrick Turner. They waived DL Marcus Dixon, CB Donnie Fletcher and OT Dennis Landolt.
