Tyrod rolling

With all of the notable starters held out of team periods ahead of a joint practice, backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor was crisp while getting the primary reps — going an efficient, unofficial 8-for-10.

On the first snap, he rolled right and hit tight end Jeremy Ruckert. He also connected with rookie wideout Malachi Corley across the middle of the field.

Screen shot

In a shorter practice centered around the second and third units, one error stood out: Taylor and Corley appeared to have a miscommunication on what resembled a screen.

Caught my eye

Center Joe Tippmann was part of the group of starters who didn’t participate in team periods, but at one point, off to the side, he went through a handful of snap motions and practiced his footwork.

Rodgers report

Rodgers was given a rest day ahead of the joint practice with the Giants on Wednesday. That, he said, is “like our preseason game,” and the starters will get plenty of reps.

Injury report

Rodgers and linebacker C.J. Mosley both had veteran rest days. … Ruckert was wearing a regular jersey after wearing a red no-contact one Monday. … WR Irv Charles returned to practice.
