Urban Meyer isn’t going to tip his hand.

The freshly-minted Jacksonville Jaguars coach -— introduced Friday after officially being hired Thursday night — gets the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, in which he’s expected to come away with highly touted Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence.

But will he?

“You see Trevor, you see Justin [Fields], you see Zach [Wilson],” Meyer, a three-time NCAA national champion, said. “Whoever takes that snap, we have got to be right on… Who we pick at the quarterback spot, that’s going to be one of the most important decisions I’ve made in my lifetime.

“The ones that are out there, I have been studying a lot, I like to use the term ‘elite.’ I see some elite quarterbacks right now.”

Despite Meyer’s diplomatic answer, draft pundits and scouts everywhere don’t foresee the Jaguars overthinking things: Lawrence is the clear-cut top pick, with Ohio State’s Fields and BYU’s Wilson behind him in every ranking and mock draft.

Should the former Buckeyes coach and Fox Sports analyst provide a gigantic draft day surprise, however, he was clear that it would be an organizational decision. Owner Shad Khan and whomever fills the vacant GM seat — Khan said he expects to make a hire in the next week — will also get their say.

Answering to an NFL owner and GM won’t be the only changes in Meyer’s return to Florida, where he won two national championships with the University of Florida Gators. He also plans to scale things back from his collegiate sideline days after health issues drove him into coaching retirement.

“I’m not going to be running around like a nut on the practice field,” he said. “Those days are gone.”

Even with an increased reliance on the staff he’ll build, he won’t be poaching anyone from Ohio State’s staff. And despite his comments on Friday, it’s a good bet his first pick with the Jaguars won’t come from the Buckeyes roster, either.
