Jason Garrett will always have a fan in Dak Prescott.
“I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for my career,” the Cowboys quarterback told NJ.com of his former coach on Wednesday. “Believing in me to drive me and push me to be the player that I have become. I’m thankful for his impact.”
Prescott made his NFL debut in 2016 as the Cowboys starter, replacing a then-injured Tony Romo. Under Garrett’s regime, Prescott helped lead the Cowboys to three postseason appearances. After failing to make the playoffs this year, owner Jerry Jones fired Garrett after nine-plus seasons. He has since become the Giants’ new offensive coordinator.
“They’re getting a great coach,” Prescott said. “A smart coach. As great at preparing and as professional as any I have ever seen.”

And while Prescott will see Garrett on the sidelines next season — twice, if we’re counting — he’s also ready to get to work with new Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy.
“Excited. Excited for him to lead our team,” Prescott said of McCarthy on the “RapSheet + Friends” podcast, according to the Dallas Morning News. “He’s got a Super Bowl. … He’s comfortable [at AT&T Stadium] winning the big game. But when a guy has that, and he comes into the locker room to lead – people want to follow.”
McCarthy won a Super Bowl with the Packers following the 2010 season. He was fired from Green Bay in December 2018.
