Zach Wilson’s days with the Jets are nearing an end.

The former second-overall pick in 2021 has been granted permission to seek a trade, Jets general manager Joe Douglas said Wednesday during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, confirming an earlier report by The Post’s Brian Costello.

Douglas’ remarks come just weeks after Jets owner Woody Johnson unloaded on Wilson, 24, and the team, which finished the regular season at 7-10 and missed the playoffs again.

“We need a backup quarterback,” Johnson said at the 2024 NFL Honors in Las Vegas prior to the Super Bowl.

“We didn’t have one last year.”

The Jets will still have to agree to the terms of a trade, presuming Wilson is able to find an interested team, though the expected return can’t be too high after back-to-back disastrous seasons.

The 2023 season was intended to be a reset year for Wilson, who was benched multiple times in the last two years.

The plan was to have Wilson, a BYU product, learn from his hero, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the Jets in April 2023 after 18 seasons with the Packers.

That plan unraveled just four plays into the Jets’ season, when Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, thrusting Wilson back under center.

Wilson finished his third year in New York by throwing for 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions through 12 games.

He suffered a head injury in a Week 15 loss to the Dolphins and remained sidelined to close out the season.

Trade rumors regarding Wilson have been bubbling for some time, with the quarterback’s hometown Utah newspaper, the Deseret News, reporting he and head coach Robert Saleh agreed to part ways after the season.

Wilson has appeared in 34 games for the Jets, throwing for a total of 6,293 yards across three seasons, along with 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.
