Martin Brodeur will returns to Devils nets Friday night against the Senators in Ottawa.

Brodeur, 38, has missed eight straight games and 10 of 13 with a right elbow injury. He suffered the injury in Chicago on Nov. 3, and after sitting out two, returned to beat Edmonton 4-3 in overtime.

He finished one more game before leaving a loss in Toronto Nov. 18 with a recurrence.

“I’ve been 100 percent. We had three hard practices in a row. I shook off all the cobwebs I have to shake off,” Brodeur said Thursday. “It’s like riding a bicycle. You’re anxious to get back. And it’s the middle of the season. I’ve only missed three weeks.”

The Devils have lost three in a row and 19 of 27 and stand next to last above the Islanders in the Eastern Conference.

“Marty is a world-class goaltender. Of course, he’s going to make a difference. He looks good in practice. I’m sure he’ll be ready to go,” coach John MacLean said. “He’s a great goalie, Definitely, he’s going to make a difference.

“We’re confident in his play. We have to play well in front of him and put some goals up for him.”

MacLean said Brodeur made a difference just by returning to practice.

“Marty’s a world-class goalie. As much as he’s a presence on the ice, he’s a presence off the ice and being around the team has been helpful,” MacLean said.
