Devils goalie Martin Brodeur will start against the Jets on Saturday at Prudential Center, and it is unknown if Ilya Kovalchuk will be able to play.

NorthJersey.com reports that a decision on the star forward will be made the morning of the game. He suffered a lower-body injury on the final shift of Thursday’s 4-3 shootout win over the Flyers.

“We’re going to evaluate him today and get a report tonight and probably it will be more we’ll see how he feels tomorrow morning.” coach Pete DeBoer said.

It also is unknown if Johan Hedberg will be able to back up Brodeur. Hedberg suffered a back injury in the third period Thursday but finished the game.

“He looks 100 percent better, but that’s still something we’ll see in the morning,” DeBoer said.

Brodeur on Wednesday made his first start since returning from a shoulder injury, losing to the Maple Leafs, 5-3.
