ARLINGTON, Va. – Capitals right wing Mike Knuble skated on his own here for some 35 minutes this morning, but only lightly held his stick in his injured right hand that is suspected to have kept him out of Game 4 against the Rangers on Wednesday.
He appeared to be no sure thing to play in Game 5 on Saturday afternoon.
Knuble is the usual right wing on Alexander Ovechkin’s line and scored 24 goals this season, third on the team. He scored in Game 3 of this series, but is believed to have injured his hand on that play.
The 38-year-old appeared to be skating to maintain conditioning, and only attempted a couple of shots, weak flippers rather than strong wristers.
The Capitals lead the best-of-7 series 3-1 after a 4-3 double-overtime win over the Rangers on Wednesday.
