Nassau County will celebrate Clark Gillies Day on Friday in remembrance of the Islanders legend and pillar of the Long Island community.

Gillies, who died in January, was a key part of the Islanders’ dynasty in the early 1980s. He scored more than 30 goals six times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.

His foundation, which was devoted to helping children, donated millions of dollars to organizations around Long Island, and the pediatric emergency unit at Huntington Hospital was named for the foundation.

In celebration, the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building will be lit blue and orange over the weekend.

“When Clark died, we were thinking about all of the Islander fans who really grew up with Clark Gillies and the great teams from the 80s and basically, we felt we wanted to do something to remember his achievements not only on the ice but off the ice,” Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman told The Post. “It seemed like a nice thing to do and we’ve got a lot of Islander fans here.”

Blakeman noted the impact of Gillies’ foundation on the community.

“Not only was he a big star,” Blakeman said. “He was also a regular guy who gave back to his community.”
